A scoring frenzy by a pair of juniors helped the Sigourney Savages boys’s basketball team (16-5 overall) advance in the Class 1A District 10 tournament. The Savages opened up their postseason run at Sigourney High School against the Wayne Falcons (3-17 overall).

Sigourney junior forward Matus Stevko scored a career-high 32 points, his third 30 point performance of the season, to help the Savages cruise to an 85-56 victory over Wayne. Savage junior guard Blaine Gretter added 25 points in the victory.

The win propels the Savages into the district semifinals Tuesday evening against the Twin Cedar Sabers. The game is scheduled to tip off at 6:30 p.m. at Molten-Udell High School.
