The impact of Iowa’s property tax reform is being felt in Washington County. According to Kalona City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh, Kalona is one of many cities dealing with a drop in revenue caused by the commercial property tax rollback.

The City of Kalona is seeing a decline of $18,000 in property tax revenue which led to cuts in the 2016 fiscal year budget approved by the city council on Monday.

Schlabaugh says to address the shortfall, they found ways to reduce utility expenses at the pool.
