The Keota School Board will meet tomorrow to discuss budget cuts. The board has been considering layoffs this school year to address a decline in the district’s unspent balance.

The individuals who hold positions that could be part of a staff reduction have been providing an overview of what they do at recent school board meetings. According to Superintendent Mark Schneider, the board is no longer considering the reduction or elimination of the elementary art, music and physical education positions and the health associate role.

He explains the budget needs to be certified by April 15th, and if a staff reduction is pursued by the board, they need to notify the affected individuals by April 30th, but they would like to let them know as soon as possible. The board will make their final decision during a special meeting tomorrow evening.
