A Columbus Junction man accused of causing his daughter’s death has entered a plea of not guilty. Twenty-year-old Oscar Jimenez is charged with murder in the first-degree, a felony that carries a mandatory life sentence, child endangerment resulting in death and multiple acts of child endangerment.

He was arrested January 20th after four-month-old Marleen Jimenez was taken to the hospital for severe head trauma. The infant died four days later.

The written arraignment and plea of not guilty was filed Tuesday, in lieu of an arraignment set for Friday. An order for a pretrial conference was filed yesterday.

Jimenez is being held at the Louisa County Jail on $1 million bond.
