It was senior night for the Mid-Prairie girls’ (14-7) and boys’ basketball (1-20) teams last night, as they played in their final regular season basketball game against non-conference opponent the Clear Creek Amana Clippers. As you heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and on KCIIradio.com both the girls and boys came up short. The Mid-Prairie girls’ lost with a score to 62-54. The boys lost with a score of 41-25.

On the girls’ side, it was a close game throughout with Mid-Prairie down a basket 31-29 at halftime. However, that is as close as the Golden Hawks would get as Clear Creek (12-8) would score another 31 points in the game with Mid-Prairie scoring just 25 points in the second half.

Senior Ali Riggan scored 12 points to lead the Golden Hawks in points. Senior Taylor Kurtz had nine points and nine rebounds, and freshman Addison Rath had nine points with eight rebounds. The Golden Hawks finish the regular season with a record of 14-7 and will play at home on Saturday for their first game of the postseason versus the Williamsburg Raiders (3-18). On the boys’ side the Golden Hawks had a tall order as they tried to end the regular season on a high note as they played the Clippers (14-5). It was just a one point difference at halftime with the Golden Hawks down 17-16. The offense would stall for Mid-Prairie and they would be outscored in the second half 24-9. Mid-Prairie was led on offense by senior Colin Weber who finished the game with nine points.

The Golden Hawks will have a break before they enter postseason play.
