It was a successful year for the Mid-Prairie girls’ basketball team advancing with a record of 15-8 and were just a few points shy of making it to sectionals.

Mid-Prairie will lose seven seniors from this year’s basketball team. One is leading scorer in Taylor Kurtz who led the team in points with 8.8 points per game. She had 203 points total for the whole season; as well as 152 rebounds; third in the River Valley Conference. Kurtz is continuing her basketball career at Waldorf College, where she will also play softball.

Mid-Prairie also loses their leading three-point shooter in Ali Riggan. Riggan was fifth in the conference in three-point shots made with 39. Mid-Prairie will also lose Lexi Duwa, who started every game for the Golden Hawks. Other players the Golden Hawks will lose are Ashley Sojka, Brennana Riggan, Celica Hostetler, and Chelsea Bowlin.

Mid-Prairie has a core of players coming back. Junior Alex Rath who started all but one game for the Golden Hawks and lead the team in steals with 48 on the year is returning. They also have freshman Addison Rath back after starting the last two games of the season. She had 136 points, fourth most on the team. Sophomore Ali Butters will be back; she shot 40.9 percent from the field, second best on the team. Sophomore Ireland Hostler will also be back in the inside for Mid-Prairie. She helped make Mid-Prairie the best blocking team in the conference. She contributed 20 of 84 total blocks for the team.
