The no. 14 ranked Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls’ basketball team (15-7) will look for a victory in the second round of postseason play tonight at home as they take on the Benton Community Bobcats (12-10).

The Golden Hawks won in convincing fashion at home in their first round game last Saturday, beating the Williamsburg Radiers 60-35. Mid-Prairie had two players who scored in double figures; senior Ali Riggan got 12 points, all coming from three-point range, and freshman Addison Rath, in her first start of the season got 11 points and six rebounds.

The Bobcats are coming off of a first round victory over the Solon Spartans 49-41. Benton had four players who scored in double figures in the win. Leading the way was senior Gabi Kuester with 16 points and seven rebounds. Junior Jessica Heilman netted a double-double in the game with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

This second round postseason game with Mid-Prairie and Benton will begin tonight in Wellman at 7 p.m. The winner of the game will play at Tama on Saturday versus the winner of the Nevada and South Tama game.
