The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls’ basketball team (12-6) played in a River Valley Conference game on Saturday against the Iowa City Regina Regals (15-2). As heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and on KCIIradio.com the Golden Hawks would lose in a close battle with their conference opponent 47-42.
The game was close throughout the first half with Mid-Prairie up by a couple of baskets 17-13 by halftime. By the end of the third quarter Iowa City Regina would claw closer, down only one 25-24. In the fourth quarter both defenses ran out of gas, but more so for the Golden Hawks. Mid-Prairie gave up 23 points in the final quarter with Iowa City giving up 17 points.
Mid-Prairie was led in points by freshman Addison Rath with 13 points and five rebounds. The Golden Hawks fall to 12-6 on the season and will stay at home for their next game against Monticello tomorrow night.
