The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is looking at purchasing two pieces of land near Wapello.
The first is 138 acres adjacent to the Millrace Flats Wildlife Management Area. The second is 108 acres adjacent to the Turtle Bend Wildlife Management Area.
The land is currently owned by the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation. According to information from the DNR, the purpose of the acquisitions is to provide additional waterfowl habitat and recreational opportunities.
The Natural Resource Commission will consider approving the purchases at their meeting Thursday.
