The Iowa Department of Public Health is reminding Iowans that regular dental visits by the time a child turns one-year-old helps children start a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. February is National Children’s Dental Health month.

Washington County Public Health takes part in the state’s I-SMILE program, which provides dental support for families. With the I-SMILE program, there are school dental screenings, fluoride varnishes, access clinics and a school-based sealant program, which is offered to third and sixth grade students in Washington County.
