A season-high offensive performance helped the WACO Warrior boys’ basketball team (10-12 overall) advance in the Class 1A District 9 tournament. The Warriors hosted the Maharishi Pioneers in their postseason opener at Bob Hilmer Court in Wayland.

The Warriors had four players score in double figures, led by freshman guard B.J. Rodgers with 22 points, as WACO advanced to the District quarterfinals with a 75-35 victory. This is the first time WACO has scored over 70 points in a game this season. Seniors Braden Blake and Tucker Janecek added 13 points each in their final game played at home.

The win improves WACO to 10-12 overall this season and advances the Warriors to face the Holy Trinity Crusaders (14-7 overall) in the Class 1 District 9 quarterfinals on Thursday evening in Van Buren.
