A nature writer and Humanities Iowa speaker will be presenting “A History of Deer in Iowa” in Washington Thursday. Larry Stone shares he will discuss deer as trophies, treasures and trouble. He adds the number of deer has changed over the last 60 years; in 1953 it was estimated there were 20,000 deer in Iowa while the population has grown to half a million today.
