Alliant Energy is donating $2,000,000 to assist low income families with heating costs through community action agencies in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Each year the company collects donations for the Hometown Care Energy Fund, and according to Alliant more than $250,000 was donated through optional contributions. Iowa has 18 Community Action Agencies covering all of Iowa’s 99 counties.

The Low Income Home Energy Asssitance Program, or LIHEAP, accepts applications November 3rd through April 30th to assist income-eligible households with energy bills and weatherization.
