An area cub scout pack’s tradition of holding pinewood derbies continues on Sunday. Frank Best was a member of Cub Scout Pack 17 of Columbus Community as a child and is now cubmaster of the group that was reestablished a few years ago.  He says the scouts start with a kit that includes a piece of wood, metal axel and plastic wheels, then work within the set guidelines to make the fastest car. He adds there will be an open class for anyone in the public with a car that would like to race. The pinewood derby begins at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Columbus Junction Fire Station.
