The core of this year’s Washington Demon boys’ track team is centered around a group of upperclassmen with a multitude of talents. Head coach Steve Roth returns seven student athletes who experience the state track meet in 2014.

Senior Tommy Peterson is back as the Demon’s top shot put thrower. Peterson threw a personal-best 53′ 4.75″ in last year’s state competition, finishing with the third best score in the state.

On the track side, Roth returns everyone from last year’s shuttle hurdle team including: senior Gage Redliner, senior Alex Gonzalez, senior Jacob Hennigan, junior Jack Giardino, sophomore Jacob Reighard, and sophomore Caleb Bex. The group didn’t post a finish, being disqualified from the event on day one of state competition.

Roth has tabbed senior Curtis Vest as one of his main distance athletes. Vest ran cross country this fall for the Demons, placing as the first or second Washington finisher in each meet.

The boys’ track team opens the 2015 season this Friday in the annual Demon indoor invitational, taking place this season at Cornell College in Mount Vernon.
