Flu activity in Iowa is low at this time, but the geographic spread has increased from widespread to regional. According to the Iowa Influenza Surveillance Network, we are starting to see a decrease in overall flu activity but the number of confirmed flu B cases is starting to increase. One school in Henry County reported 10 percent or greater absenteeism during this reporting week.

During this flu season, there have been 57 influenza reported outbreaks in long-term care facilities in Iowa and there have been three confirmed influenza-related deaths in children.
