Influenza is still regional in its geographic spread in Iowa with minimal activity. Last week, the State Hygienic Laboratory detected three flu A cases, two flu A pending sub-type and 20 flu B cases. Twenty influenza-associated hospitalizations were reported across the state, 17 of which were people over 50 years of age and two were younger the four years old. Also, three schools reported 10 percent or greater absenteeism, none of which were in Southeast Iowa.
