The Washington Demon boys’ track team is putting on their first outdoor track meet of the season later this week. The annual Washington Relays is scheduled for this Thursday at Case Field.

Head boys’ track coach Steve Roth says the meet will include three different classes of athletes from 22 different schools across the state. “They come from everywhere,” Coach Roth said, “They are coming from West Delaware, Burlington. Pella, WACO, Mount Pleasant, and Fort Madison.”

Other schools apart of the meet include: Washington, Mid Prairie, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Cedar Rapids Xavier, Columbus, Danville, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Fairfield, Iowa City, Keota, Lone Tree, Maharishi, Mediapolis, Monticello, Ottumwa, Wapello, and West Burlington.

Roth says he was thankful for all the assistance he received in putting on the Demon Indoor Invitational earlier this month and is welcoming any additional help in putting on this week’s event. To volunteer for the event, contact the Washington High School athletic department.

The Washington Relays are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday with the preliminary events and running events to starting at 4 p.m.
