The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is nearing their $21,000 fundraising goal to get the department two K-9 units. At this week’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting Sheriff Jerry Dunbar stated they are at approximately $15,000 with another $2250 in committed donations. Dunbar explained $811 was raised at a fundraiser at Unc and Neph’s last week and County Auditor Dan Widmer said $350 in donations were received by mail.

Dunbar added they will be seeking a Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant for half of the total cost, which for the dogs, equipment and training is $42,000.
