The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys’ soccer team will get their first taste of competition today as they travel to Solon for a scrimmage against the Spartans.

The Golden Hawks went 17-3 last year and fell short of first place at the state tournament. The Spartans went 11-9 last year. Solon lost three starters for the Spartans due to graduation. Coach Pat Cady says though there just scrimmaging this may not be the last time they play against each other this season, “Their enrollment dropped a little bit and there going to move back to Class 1A this year. That maybe another contender that we possibly might have to go through this year.”

Kickoff for this scrimmage is at 5 p.m. today at Solon High School.
