The Mid-Prairie girls’ track team is already on their third week of practice as they get ready for this upcoming season. The Golden Hawks are coached by Chris Tyler, who says he really likes what he is seeing so far in practice, “These group of kids have done some work in the off season. They got in the weight room, doing workouts all on their own all winter long. I really see a big improvement on where we where last year.”

Mid-Prairie graduated just one runner from last year’s team. One of Mid-Prairie’s top runners is senior Lexi Duwa, who went to state in three events last May in the 100, 200 and 4×100. She finished in 12th in the 100, 15th in the 200, and 9th as part of the 4×100 team.

Mid-Prairie’s first meet will be indoors at Cornell in Mt.Vernon on Thursday, March 26th. Their first outdoor meet will be at Iowa City Regina on Saturday, March 28th.
