The track season is back up and running for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks. Mid-Prairie’s boys’ track team is coached by Shawn Powell and Aaron Fleming.

Coach Powell talks about his team and how well practices have gone for his team, “Practices have been going great. We’ve got a young team and they are all buying into the system right away so it doesn’t matter if were indoors, weight room, gym, on the stairs, or the hallways at the school, they have been working hard and getting better each day. Kids are staying healthy, looking forward for what we’ve got going on.”

Mid-Prairie brings a few experienced members back to their team. Sophomore Levi Duwa comes back after qualifying for state in the shot put last year. Senior Jared Draper, who placed ninth at state for cross country last fall, will be leading the Golden Hawks in the 3200 meter event.

Mid-Prairie will first run in an exhibition meet on Friday, March 20th, at Central College in Pella. The Golden Hawks’ first track meet will be Thursday, March 26th, at Washington.
