The wrestling season is over and the Golden Hawks are hoping they can continue their success into next year. This year the Mid-Prairie wrestling team finished the season with a record of 12-10.

Mid-Prairie will lose a couple of wrestlers to graduation, including senior Josh Murphy (126) and senior Visouth Peterschmidt (170).

The good news for Mid-Prairie is that all of their state qualifiers are coming back to the team next year. Sophomore Duncan McCain (112) will be back after getting sixth place at state, he finished with a record of 48-6. Junior Cameron Tolander (182) will be back after competing at Wells Fargo Arena, Tolander finished with a record of 35-11. Sophomore Levi Duwa (195) will back after placing eighth in Des Moines with a season record of 39-8.

Mid-Prairie wrestling coach Justin Garvey hopes that his team’s success this season will continue, “I just hope that the success that we had this year will carry over into next year and get people in Mid-Prairie fired up about wrestling. Help build the number for our youth club, junior high teams, and high school teams and keep it rolling with a lot of success.”

The Golden Hawks will be back practicing as a team in mid-November.
