Due to a large number of boys out for golf this season, the Lone Tree Lions have split the golf coaching duties this season between Courtney Sorensen and John Osterhout. Sorensen is in her first season coaching Lone Tree golf and inherits a girls’ team with little golfing experience.

Of the six girls out for golf, four have never played golf prior to this season. Among the newcomers to the golf team include: senior Julie Wehmeyer, senior Gretchen Gerot, sophomore Lizzie Edens and freshman Shelby Eden.

The two returning golfers for the Lions are entering their senior season. Liz Griffin has been a member of the Lion golf team since her freshman year, and finished last season as the team’s top golfer. Griffin averaged nine hole score was 52. Senior Allison Chewning is also returning for the Lions after averaging a nine hole score of 61.

The Lone Tree Lion golf teams open the season on Thursday, April 9th in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference match with Mediapolis High School at Indian Hills Golf Course in Wapello.
