The power is back on after an outage impacted parts of Henry County and led Winfield-Mount Union to cancel classes Monday. Over 1,000 customers were without power yesterday between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. According to Heather Holmes, with Alliant Energy, the outage was caused by a raccoon that reached a transformer at one of their substations by crawling under a chain link fence. She says crews determined melting snow washed away soil in that area, giving the animal enough room to crawl through.
