The man accused of abducting a child this past weekend is facing an additional charge. According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Kenneth Johns has been taken into custody on outstanding warrants for parole violation and domestic abuse assault with or while displaying a firearm. He’s now charged with assault causing bodily injury following an altercation with another inmate at the Johnson County Jail.

The 48-year-old  is accused of abducting a nine-year-old from Solon on Saturday. The sheriff’s office says the girl was found in Cedar County in good health. Johns was arrested Sunday morning near North Liberty. He is being held at the Johnson County Jail. His initial appearance is scheduled for today.

This case remains under investigation. Agencies that have assisted include the Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Criminal investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Davenport Police Department, Iowa City Police Department, Coralville Police Department, Johnson County Attorney’s Office, along with other local law enforcement agencies.
