Wednesday the annual statewide tornado drill will be held starting at 10 a.m. KCII will be live on the air with the Severe Weather Action Team for our listeners, providing interview with area officials regarding preparations for severe spring and summer weather. The drill will be given over NOAA weather radios at 10 a.m. starting with a watch and then a warning. The drill is anticipated to end at 10:30 a.m.

Cara Sorrells, director of Washington County E911, encourages citizens to register for the wireless emergency notification system to receive weather and other emergency notices on your phones.

If there is an actual severe weather event Wednesday, the drill will be postponed to Thursday at 10 a.m. Listen to KCII for your weather updates; the KCII staff is on call 24 hours each day, ever day of the week and consists of trained weather spotters and even when the power goes out we stay on air with our back up generators. KCII is connected to area authorities through EAS equipment and is in direct contact with the National Weather Service, AccuWeather and Weather Eye meteorologists.
