The Washington City Council endorsed three applications for grant funds totaling $101,650 at their meeting this week. The Park Board is seeking $31,650 for improvements to ball fields in the city.

City Administrator Brent Hinson explained the city is seeking $45,000 to help purchase a new brush fire truck to replace a 27-year-old truck. The city’s bond money will be the matching funds of $100,000.

The third grant application is for $25,000 to help put in a sidewalk along Highway 92 to Wal-Mart.The Washington County Riverboat Foundation awarded $998,443 across 54 grants last spring.
