All of the Washington jazz bands will perform tonight for the All School Jazz Concert. The event begins at 7 p.m. at the high school.

The Washington High School jazz band took part in two competitions – one at Indian Hills Community College where they placed sixth and at Districts at Iowa City West High School.

The Washington Middle School jazz bands performed at the SEIBA Jazzfest earlier this month. The Jazz “Z” placed fourth overall and the Jazz “ER” placed 8th. Combined, the two bands had 17 soloist awards.

Middle School
The Jazz “Z” band performed Go Daddy O with soloists Audrey Wubbena-alto sax, Olivia Pacha-trumpet, Isaac Gilliespie-guitar, and Alan Morgado-tromone;  Misty  featuring soloists Audrea Wubbena-alto sax and Olivia Pacha-trumpet; and Play That Funky Music with soloists Rory Wagner-trombone, Audrey Wubbena-alto sax, Ellie Todd-trumpet; Isaac Gillispie-guitar, Ben Shiefer-bass, and Matteo Hernandez-drums.

Their scores were 82, 77 and 57.

The Jazz “ER” band performed Another Day, Another Blues with German Ramirez featured on alto saxophone; Yesterday with solos by John Flannery-piano, Hanna Witbeck-alto sax, and Kaitlyn Mitchell-trumpet; and they finished with Rollin’ in the Deep featuring Chole McGuire on bass, Stephanie Plants-trumpet, Emily Miranda-clarinet, Kylee McDonald-tenor sax, and Desiree Pingol-flute.

There scores were 71, 57 and 66.
