The accolades continue to pile up this week for former Washington Demon baseball player Walker Breard. The freshman first baseman for the Cornell College Rams was named to D3Baseball.com’s Team of the Week for April 6th, an honor roll selected from nominations by the institutions’ sports information directors. Breard was among 13 players selected to this weeks’ team.

On Monday, the Midwest Conference named Breard the Baseball Player of the Week for April 6th because of his performance during a 27 inning stretch last weekend in Jackonville, IL. In three games, the former Demon totaled three doubles, four home runs, scored seven runs and collected 10 RBI.

Breard and the Rams (11-12 overall; 5-4 MWC) played a single nine inning baseball game with the 14th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes on Wednesday evening at Duane Banks Field in Iowa City. He recorded one of the team’s two hits in a 9-1 setback. Lone Tree graduate Andy Dodson was charged with the loss, allowing one run on two hits in two innings of work.

The Cornell College Rams overall record drops to 11-12 ahead of big weekend series with defending South champion Grinnell (9-14 overall, 4-4 MWC South) this weekend. The teams play Saturday in Grinnell, and Sunday in Mount Vernon with scheduled first pitch at noon for both double headers.
