One of the best offensive performances in Division III baseball last week came off the bat of a former Washington Demon. Cornell College freshman Walker Breard was recognized as the Midwest Conference Baseball Player of the Week for April 6th.

Breard, who belted nine home runs for the Demons last summer, sent four balls over the fence last week during a four game split with Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL. Playing in three games last week, the freshman first baseman totaled three doubles, four home runs, seven runs and 10 RBI.

Breard has appeared in 12 games so far this season for the Rams, starting 10 at first base. He leads the Rams in slugging percentage (1.000), on base percentage (.496), and home runs (6) this season.

Cornell College (11-11 overall; 5-3 MWC South) sits in first place in the Midwest Conference’s South Division with a 5-3 record.

Breard and the Rams will compete against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City tomorrow evening. The first pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. at Duane Banks Field.
