Three meets into the season, the Washington Demons boys’ golf team has yet to be outperformed. The Demon golfers return to action this afternoon at the Fairfield Golf and Country Club in a Southeast Conference triangular against the Trojans and Fort Madison Bloodhounds.

The Demons faced the Bloodhounds last Thursday in the Burlington Golf Tournament. Washington won the tournament with the low score of 330; Fort Madison finished in third place, 37 strokes behind the Demons. Washington has also defeated Southeast Conference member Mount Pleasant twice in competitions this season.

Fort Madison’s boys’ golf team has five competitions under their belt this season, including three 18 hole matches. Junior Jordan Hubbs has posted the best average score for the Bloodhound so far this season. Hubbs enters play today averaging 43.4 strokes per nine holes of golf. He finished last week’s Burlington Golf Tournament in sixth place, entering the clubhouse with 82 on his scoreboard.

Fairfield’s boys’ golf team has competed in three events so far this spring. The Trojans are last in the Southeast Conference in team average, with their top four golfers averaging 197.2 strokes for nine holes of golf. Junior Nick Higgins is the Trojans top golfer, averaging 40.8 strokes in nine holes of golf this season.

The Southeast Conference boys’ golf triangular between Washington, Fort Madison, and Fairfield tees off at 4 p.m at the Fairfield Golf and Country Club.
