The Southeast Conference season continues this afternoon for the Washington Demon boys’ soccer team (1-2 overall; 0-2 Southeast). The Demons travel to Fort Madison High School for a conference double header with the Bloodhounds (3-1 overall).

Last year’s co-conference champs have started slow during league play this spring. Washington has lost back-to-back Southeast Conference games by two goals to the Fairfield Trojans and Keokuk Chiefs. Senior Joe Smith, junior Christian Mejia, and freshman Tony Torres are tied for the team lead in goals with two a piece.

Since dropping their season opener to the Burlington Greyhounds, Fort Madison has won three straight contests. Two of those wins came against Southeast Conference competition, outscoring league opponents 8-1 this season. Junior Braxton Williams enters the game as the Southeast Conference leader in goals with 13 scored in four matches this season.

The Southeast Conference boys’ soccer clash between Washington and Fort Madison kicks off at 7 p.m. at Fort Madison High School.
