In their only scheduled full-team meet of the week, the Washington Demon boys’ track team will make the short drive to Wellman for the Hawks Co-Ed Relays at Mid-Prairie High School.

The Demon boys’ track team most recently competed last Thursday in the 2015 Denny White Relays at Maple Leaf Complex in Mount Pleasant. As a team, the Demons finished in fifth place, out of the eight team field, with 56 points.

Senior Tommy Peterson won the shot put competition, hurling the shot 52 feet 4.25 inches. Peterson, who qualified for the Drake Relays at 55 feet 7.5 inches, hasn’t lost in a shot put competition yet this season. On average, he is defeating the second place thrower by nearly four feet this season.

Senior Jacob Hennigan posted his career-best time in the 110 meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.95 seconds. Hennigan’s recorded the third best time in the meet, and the time qualified him for the Drake Relays later this week. Peterson and Hennigan are the only Demon track athletes who qualified for this years annual meet.

The boys’ track teams scheduled to battle at this year’s Hawks Co-Ed Relays includes: Mid-Prairie, Columbus, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Grinnell, Midland, Mount Pleasant, West Liberty, Williamsburg Community, and Wilton.

The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m. in Wellman.
