Another season of Washington Demon girls’ soccer begins this afternoon in Columbus Junction. The Demons will make the short drive east on Highway 92 for their season opener against the Columbus Wildcats.

Washington finished last season 4-10 overall. The Demons got off to a fast start last season, winning their first two games by outscoring their opponents 11-0. Washington scored 10 goals the rest of the season, being shut out in four of their 10 losses. Senior Kayla Schindler put 20 shots on goal last year, five making it in the back of the net.

The girls’ varsity soccer match between Washington and Columbus kicks off at 4:30 p.m. Tune in to tomorrow’s KCII local sports page for results from the game.
