After finishing first in the Demon Relays last Friday, the Washington Demon girls’ track returned to the oval Tuesday evening for the Pen City Relays at Fort Madison High School. The Demons ended the team competition in fifth place out of the six team field, recording 79 points. Six points separated Southeast Conference members Keokuk, Fort Madison, and Washington for third, fourth and fifth place respectively.

Demon senior sprinter Macy Marek had two more first place finishes for the Demons in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes. Marek finished the 100 meter dash in 13.09 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 27.3 seconds. Washington’s other top finisher was the 4×200 meter relay team, taking first place with a time of 2:05.04. The girls a part of the 4×200 meter relay team include: Amber Salow, Malary Horak, Morgan Kimball, and Emma Wood.

The Demon girls’ track team returns to competition tomorrow afternoon in the Eddyville-Blakesburg Relays at Eddyville-Blakesburg High School.
