After Friday night’s first place finish in the Demon Relays, the Washington Demon girls’ track team is set to return to the oval tonight in Fort Madison for the Pen City Relays.

Teams set to compete at the relays this evening include: Fort Madison, Mount Pleasant, and Winfield-Mount Union.

Washington hosted the Demon Relays Friday afternoon at Case Field, finishing in first place with 193 points. This was the Demons’ first meet title this season after two second place finishes at the Falcon and Bullette Relays. Washington doubled up on points in nine events last night, including the discus throw, shot put, high jump, long jump, the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 800 meter run, and the 3000 meter run.

On the track, senior Macy Marek accounted for the most team points from the competition. Marek posted first place finishes individually in the 100 meter (12.78) and 200 meter (27.98) dashes. She also was a part of the Demons’ top placing 4×100 meter relay (53.70) and 800 meter sprint medley (2:01.44) teams.

The Pen City Relays open at 4:30 p.m. with the field events at Fort Madison High School.
