The Washington County Sheriff’s Office received $2,855 this week for their K-9 fund. Chief Deputy Jarad Schneider announced the donations at this week’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting, with $100 from Statler Construction, $500 from Hills Bank, $1,100 from Greiner Buildings and $1,000 from the Washington County Corn and Soybean Association, as well as $155 cash. Schneider estimated they have raised the matching funds needed.

The department is seeking a $42,000 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation with $21,000 from the sheriff’s office in matching funds. A contract for two canines and five weeks of training has been signed. Deputies Nolan Burke and Nathan Schmuecker will be on the K-9 teams.
