It was a sunny April day at the Indian Relays in Wapello as the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks brought some of their athletes to compete.

It was a good day for sophomore Levi Duwa who won first place with a personal best in the discus with a throw of 149 feet and 9 inches. Duwa talked about the throw and what his goals were, “It felt pretty good, but I didn’t know it was going to go that far. I needed 152 feet to get into the Drake Relays so that’s kind of my goal lately.” Duwa also achieved first place in the shot put with a throw of 48 feet and 1.5 inches. It best any other competitor in the relays by over four feet. Duwa already qualified for Drake in the shot put when he threw 52 feet at Cornell College in their first meet of the year.

The Golden Hawks had another athlete fair well in the relays. Senior Colin Weber continues to impress in the 400 meter dash claiming first place with a personal best time of 52.28 seconds. Weber beat second place finisher Abdul Green by nearly a full second.

The next time Mid-Prairie will head to the track will be for their home meet coming up this Friday in Wellman.
