Heading into play today, Highland senior Bryan Garcia is among the best goal scorers in the state of Iowa. In eight games this spring, Garcia has put 18 goals in the back of the net. He ‘s currently tied with Sioux City West junior Antonio Hernandez for the most goals scored so far this season among all classes.

Garcia’s goals have come in bunches. He has scored four goals in four different games this season, and has posted no goals in only two occasions.

In the conference, Highland has four of the top seven scorers. Behind Garcia is Jesse Wollrab with eight, Giovanny Aguliar with four and Kory Schnoeblem with three goals.

Highland is currently 5-3 overall and sits second in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference standings behind the Iowa Mennonite School (3-1 overall). IMS defeated Highland 4-3 in Kalona on April 16.

Garcia and the Huskies travel to Columbus Junction for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference bout today with the Columbus Wildcats (3-3). Columbus sophomore Ruben Paz has the third highest number of goals scored with 10 so far this season. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. at Columbus High School.
