As demand for organic milk grows, a Kalona business is attempting to use crowd funding to increase their production. Farmers Creamery and Kalona SuperNatural have started a Kickstarter campaign to raise $20,000 that would be used to fence in Marilyn Farms’  organic pasture. The Fencing Fields campaign is setting out to increase the supply of certified organic milk by offering a custom grazing program for Kalona’s Amish and Mennonite dairy farmers using that land.

According to owner of Marilyn Farms, Phil Forbes, the organic dairy industry has been growing steadily in the over 10 years he’s been in business, but the rate at which the average consumer is switching to organic dairy has been so great over the last two years, there isn’t enough supply to meet the demand in the United States.
