The number 10 ranked Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks boys’ soccer team will be facing a foe they know all to well as they take on the number one ranked Iowa City Regina Regals.

The last time the these two teams met was in the state title game where Mid-Prairie fell short on penalty kicks, 1-0. The Golden Hawks are 0-1 so far this season losing to Clear Creek Amana at home 2-1. The only goal was scored by Golden Hawk senior Jordan Ulin who was able to take advantage of a misstep by the Clippers’ goalie.

Mid-Praire coach Pat Cady says a win against Iowa City Regina would be help bring the program to another level, “Regina has always been like a stepping stone for Mid-Prairie. If we can get that win, we would feel like the club is heading to another level. It would bring a self accomplishment to the program. They see where they have accelerated, but just getting that win against Regina I think it would really put in their back of the their minds yo know all this hard work they are doing has gotten to that level.”

This will be the Regals first game of the season. They come in ranked number one in Class 1A this season. They lost six athletes who started for them due to graduation, but bring back seven guys who started at least 10 games for the Regals last year.

The game will take place at Iowa City at 4:30 p.m.
