The Mid-Prairie boys’ and girls’ golf teams will both be on the road today with boys heading to West Liberty and the girls traveling to Marion.

This will be the second time the boys will be at West Liberty this season. Mid-Prairie coach Kelby Bender hopes that will help his team, “We have already played in West Liberty in a dual meet once this year, so I’m excited for our kids to go back. They have seen the course so hopefully that experience will help them out.” Mid-Prairie’s average coming into this match up is 212 for nine holes and 421.5 for 18.

The meet consists of twelve teams and with each team doing 18 holes. The tournament will begin at 1 p.m. at the West Liberty Country Club.

For the girls, head coach Traci McArtor says, this meet will be a good test for his team, “It will be a good meet for the kids, it’s a bit of a tougher course. They will be going against bigger schools. It’s a good eye opener for them to play a course like that and to get that experience, because they’re going to need it down the road. They may struggle a little bit, I expect scores to be a little bit higher. Just from an overall experience stand point I think it will be good for the whole team.”

The invitational will begin at 12:30 p.m. today at the Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion with six other teams participating.
