Mid-Prairie High School students are preparing for the first performance of their spring musical. Annie Get Your Gun, first performed in 1946, is about Annie Oakley’s life and her relationship with Frank Butler. The fictional story is loosely based on their time as sharpshooters in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show in the late 1800s.

The students, including 10 seniors, will be performing Peter Stone’s revised version of the musical which eliminates insensitive references to Native Americans. They’ll perform the music composed by Irving Berlin, including the songs “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and “Anything You Can Do.”

Tonight and tomorrow’s performances begin at 7:30 p.m. at the high school. A matinee is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
