The Washington Demon spring sports teams have another busy week of activities ahead.

The Washington girls’ soccer team is in search of their first win of the young season as they have three games scheduled this week. Their week begins Monday as they host the Clear Creek Amana Clippers. The girls are also slated to travel to Wellman Tuesday for a non-conference clash with the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks and open Southeast Conference play on Thursday against the Fairfield Trojans at Washington High School. Last season, Washington lost to Clear Creek Amana and Fairfield by a combined score of 19-0. Washington did defeat the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks 1-0 in Washington last year.

The Demon boys’ soccer team opens their regular season schedule on Tuesday, facing the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks at the Wellman Recreation Complex. Mid Prairie took last year’s meeting by a 2-1 margin in Washington. The boys begin Southeast Conference play on Thursday squaring off against the Fairfield Trojans at Fairfield High School. The teams met three times last season with Fairfield coming away with two wins, including a 5-2 victory in district play last spring.

The Washington boys’ and girls’ golf teams will travel together to Cedar Crest Golf Course in Columbus Junction on Tuesday for a triangular dual with the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks and the Columbus Wildcats. The meet is the season opener for the girls’ golf team, who was supposed to begin the season in the Keokuk Invitational last Thursday. Storms in southeast Iowa last week forced the postponement of the tournament. The boys’ golf team has a quick turnaround, competing on Wednesday in the West Burlington Invitational at the Flint Hill Golf Course in West Burlington. The girls’ team is slated to travel to the Flint Hill Golf Course on Thursday for the same invitational.

Finally, the Demon boys’ and girls’ track teams will split up this week. On Tuesday, the Demon boys’ track team is scheduled to compete in the Indian Relays at Wapello High School, while the girls travel to Fort Madison for the Bloodhound Relays. The boys end the week in Mount Pleasant competing in the Panther Relays, while the girls’ head to Eddyville-Blakesburg for the Rocket Invitational. Weather caused the Demon track squads to participate in a single meet last week, hosting the annual Demon Relays on Friday afternoon.

All events are subject to change based on weather conditions throughout this week.
