The third and final reading to adopt changes to the City of Washington’s residential zoning code failed at last night’s council meeting. The roll call vote resulted in three votes supporting the measure, two opposed, and one abstention.

The council had directed the Planning and Zoning board to review the measure to further look into residential character. The board recommended an amendment for a 1:1 ratio for residential space to accessory space, and did not address design or building materials.
