A former business manager for two local school districts has been sentenced. Cindy Steege pled guilty to a second degree theft charge at the Washington County Courthouse yesterday.

According to county attorney Shawn Showers, she received a five year suspended sentence with probation. Steege has also been ordered to pay restitution.

A state audit that looked into Mid-Prairie’s finances between July 1st, 2012 and June 30th, 2014 found over $7,000 in improper charges to a district credit card made by Steege. During that time, she was serving as business manager for Mid-Prairie and Keota.
