Several members of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference squared off in Lone Tree Monday afternoon. Teams who took part in this week’s Lone Tree Invite were Highland, Lone Tree, and WACO along with Central Lee, Louisa Muscatine, New London, Tri-County, and Wapello. Louisa-Muscatine was the invite champions, scoring a meet-high 164 points.

The Lion girls’ track team had many favorable individual performances, finishing their Invite in second place with 135 points. Junior Paige Doerhmann continued her success in the 400 meter dash, taking first place with a time of 1:02.88. This is her third straight top finish in the 400 meter dash, taking first place in Belle Plaine and Mediapolis earlier this spring.

Nico Smith recorded a first place finish for the Lions in the 1500 meter run, recording a time of 5:59.08. Smith assisted Morgyn Edwards, Sydney Alt, and Karli Burr in helping the Lions’ 4×800 meter team take first place in Lone Tree’s home meet. The unit crossed the finish line in 11:37.90.

Other top finishers for the Lions includes the 4×100 meter shuttle hurdle team, who posted a time of 1:17.84. The individuals on the Lions’ 4×100 meter shuttle hurdle team are Zoie Simonson, Hailey Comer, Emily Feldman, and Devyn Alt.

The Highland Huskies recorded the third best team score, posting 69 points and several first place finishes. Senior Chelsey Lampe recorded the best 800 meter dash in the girls’ competition, ending the event in 2:36.78. Fellow senior Sam Dutton represented the Huskies in the high jump competition, taking first place with a jump of 4 feet 10 inches. Lampe and Dutton joined with Kelsey Hora and Sydney Black to take first place in the distance medley. The crew completed the event in 4:45.72.

The WACO Warriors finished right behind Highland in fourth place with 65 total team points. Senior Jalyssa Jepson was the meet’s fastest hurdler, completing the 100 meter hurdles dash in 17.57 seconds. WACO’s grouping of Trilby Frier, Jennie Green, Hallie Kissell, and Angelique Frier collected two first place finishes in the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relays. The bunch competed the 100 meter relay in 54.2 seconds, and the 200 meter relay in 1:54.31.
