Two severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for Washington County last night. The first was issued at approximately 10:45 p.m. and expired at 11:15 p.m. The second warning was issued in the early morning hours Wednesday, from 12:50 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Heavy rain and lightning was reported in Washington County. Dime-sized hail fell in Washington and nickle-sized hail was reported in Mt. Pleasant.

WeatherEye meteorologists advised large hail from quarter to ping pong ball sized was possible during the storms.

Five members of the KCII Severe Weather Action Team responded to the warnings to bring the storm information live first, fast and accurately. Personnel was on standby to use back up generators if the power went out, so that staff could continue to get the storm warning information out. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
