Now is the time to toss out unwanted items if you’re a resident of the City of Washington. The city’s annual spring cleanup starts Monday. Residents can place unwanted items out for pick up with their regular garbage. Loose items must be in a cardboard box or clear plastic bag and materials must be in distinct piles, including recyclable material.
Some large items will need stickers to be picked up. Couches, desks, mattresses, dressers and other furniture requires $6 stickers. Also, $20 stickers must be used for large appliances including washers, refrigerators, air conditioners and televisions.
Construction materials up to 100 pounds per residence may be placed on the curb, and there is a 100 pound carpet limit. Hazardous materials, batteries, tires, waste oil and garbage bags without a sticker will be left behind.
